Over the years, Hotel Engel has grown from a former farmhouse into what it is today. In 1861, the “Gasthaus Zum Engel” was granted its licence to serve drinks, and since 1932, the house has been in our family. With great attention to detail, we take care of our guests with passion.

Hotel Engel is synonymous with Black Forest gâteau like no other. Every cake is a true work of craftsmanship and a piece of tradition from the Engel family. We at Hotel Engel have grown over decades – starting out as a simple farmhouse, driven by heart and a deep commitment to hospitality. As early as 1861, the farmhouse was granted a licence to serve drinks and became the “Gasthaus Zum Engel”.
Since 1932, the house has been in our family.
You can still feel the roots of the building today: parts of the historic structure have been preserved and continue to shape the soul of our hotel. Walking through our rooms, you can sense the history held within these old walls – authentic, time-worn, and full of life.
Each generation has brought fresh ideas, new spaces, and exciting possibilities. What has never changed is the personal atmosphere and our passion for offering guests a true home in the Black Forest.
A major milestone came in 2017: with the construction of a large adventure playground in front of the Happy Club in Haus Linde, we expanded our family offerings and proudly joined the Familotel group. Since then, we’ve focused even more on the needs of families – without ever losing sight of our roots.
Today, Hotel Engel blends tradition and modern comfort – a place where guests of all ages feel completely at home.
