“Forest Bathing” in the High Black Forest

Breathe in the forest air. Feel the ground beneath your feet. Watch a beetle crawl, build with sticks, track animal footprints. Our Forest Kindergarten is more than just childcare – it’s an immersive nature experience for children aged 4 and up, engaging their minds, hearts and hands.

Together with two carers, your children will explore our meadows and forests – in almost any weather – right in the heart of nature at 1,100 metres above sea level. There’s digging, laughing, marvelling and learning – in a caring, age-appropriate setting, completely free of pressure.

When You Can Join – and What You Should Know

Supervision times (from 12 May 2025):

Monday to Saturday: 9:15 am – 12:30 pm

Supervision times (from 16 June 2025):

Monday to Saturday: 1:30 pm – 4:00 pm

Sign-up:
Please register by 7 pm the evening before at the Happy Club – spaces are limited.

Who can take part?

Children aged 4 and up (without parents)
Always supervised by at least two carers
In (almost) all weather – except during storms or severe weather warnings

Good to know:

Tetanus vaccination recommended
Tick protection optional
Weather-appropriate clothing required:
Long-sleeve tops, sturdy waterproof shoes, sun hat or warm hat, long trousers and sunscreen
Bring your own rucksack with a snack box and water bottle

Outdoor Clothing – Absolutely Essential

Warm, Muddy, Comfy – That’s How Forest Fun Works

To explore the outdoors freely, children need clothing that keeps up with their curiosity.

Mud trousers (a must) or long trousers in summer
Weatherproof shoes with a good grip (no wellies, please)
Head covering depending on the weather (sunhat, beanie, scarf)
Warm, windproof jacket, sturdy gloves (no wool)
Please dress your children fully before arriving at the meeting point

Forest Kindergarten is about more than just being outdoors – it’s about learning with all the senses:

Observing animals – respectfully
Discovering and naming plants
Understanding and protecting the forest habitat
Listening, feeling, playing and marvelling – at their own pace
Treating nature gently – we are guests in the animals’ home

Forest bathing? We take that literally: meditative, playful and full of curiosity.
